Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor, and commentator. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree of English Literature. Mitchell began her professional career as a reporter for KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in the year 1967. Then she became a reporter with the CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) which was based which was based in Washington DC. She then became a Washington general reporter to NBC News two years later. From 1981 onwards she began to report on the White House. In 1988, she became the chief reporter for the congressional section. She was named Chief White House correspondent in 1992 as well as chief foreign correspondent in 1994 for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell was a panelist for the TV show Meet the Press and also was the host for the show. Mitchell also participated as a panelist in the 1988 debate among George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the spouse of Alan Greenspan who was the former chairman for Federal Reserve Board. In 2005 Mitchell was awarded the highly coveted Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government and in 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) honored Mitchell by awarding her the Leonard Zeidenberg Award for her contribution to the protection for First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began reporting on in the White House in 1981-1988 for NBC News during Ronald Reagan's second term as president. Mitchell reported on a variety of noteworthy stories, such as the Iran-contra case and tax reform. Mitchell traveled with President Ronald Reagan on numerous trips to summits around the world and covered often.
